CRESST II

  • Postdoctoral Position in Time-Series Astronomy with the NASA TESS Mission Data: The successful applicant(s) will work with Dr. Christina Hedges to extract time-series flux data from NASA’s TESS mission on solar system objects. The successful applicant(s) will work to build on and improve existing methods and Python tools to extract solar system objects from the TESS data and produce and analyze a dataset of the time-series photometry. Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, computer science, data science or a related field by the date of the appointment.
Deadline: Application review will begin on August 27, 2023.
  • Lead Scientist for Fermi Science Support Center: The successful applicant will to lead the Fermi Science Support Center (FSSC) for the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope mission at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. The Lead Scientist provides overall management of the FSSC and works as a key partner with the Fermi project science team to achieve high scientific output from the mission. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or a related field, with a preference for at least 5 years of post-Ph.D. experience relevant to the position. Candidates should demonstrate accomplishments in topics pertinent to Fermi science and gamma-ray astrophysics as documented by a record of journal publications and other research outputs. Candidates are expected to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work as part of and manage a team drawn from diverse backgrounds. The selection will favor candidates with a good understanding of gamma-ray astrophysics user needs and those with experience in engaging with the astrophysics community. Candidates with previous experience supporting astrophysics missions or facilities are encouraged to apply, but this is not a requirement.
Deadline: Application review will begin on November 20, 2023

GESTAR II

  • Postdoctoral Appointment/Research Scientist Position in Oceanography: Applications are now being accepted for a postdoctoral research position in the field of oceanography, marine science, or a closely related field. Research will be conducted as part of the NASA Ocean Ecology Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Researcher will perform research related to river and coastal ocean numerical model development with the goal of improving the transport and transformation of carbon and nutrients from land to the ocean. The overarching goal is to improve existing global carbon stock and flux (organic and inorganic) products by linking existing land and ocean carbon based models, historical and cutting edge satellite tools, and a comprehensive in-situ database built under this project. Candidates should have a PhD in hydrology, marine science, oceanography, or related field and experience in computer programming, as well as knowledge in aquatic biogeochemistry and the carbon cycle.
Deadline: Application review will begin on November 20, 2023.
