SURA fosters collaboration among its member universities to enhance their capabilities of undertaking significant, transformative scientific research projects that no single institution or small consortium can handle independently. Annual Member Meeting
Each year SURA members come together in Washington DC to connect, learn, and meet with legislators and agency representatives. The annual meeting is a unique opportunity for SURA members to congregate in our Nation’s capital and build relationships across institutions. These events are the fertile ground that germinates new ideas and projects spanning the university landscape.
Topical Workshop Series
SURA’s technical workshop series provides a platform for researchers to come together and identify the most critical research and education topics facing the Nation. Working together, these groups spanning education, government, and industry shine a spotlight on topics hot topics at the forefront of research and education and identify ways for funding agencies to increase their impact on these essential areas.
Proposal Development and Project Execution
SURA was founded on bringing organizations together to respond to major proposal calls. This history of teaming has resulted in major advances for the Nation and the members of SURA, be it in the construction and operations of Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) or the creation of SURAnet, providing university members network connectivity to high performance computing centers. The SURA team, with decades of proposal writing experience, provides support to manage, write and execute proposals for federal finding opportunities ranging from hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions of dollars in size.

Conference Facility in Downtown DC
SURA’s Conference Facility in downtown Washington DC is the perfect location for your next event! Whether it is bringing together scientific advisory boards or building communities to advance scientific thought, the SURA Conference Space can accommodate groups of up to 60 people. This space is free for SURA members based on availability.
Meeting and Hoteling Office Space
SURA’s Washington DC headquarters has multiple offices and meeting spaces for SURA members to use while in DC. Whether you need a few hours to sit and work quietly, or video conferencing capabilities, or meeting space for 2 to 60 people. The SURA headquarters facilities are here for you! This space is free for SURA members based on availability.
