GESTAR II

The Goddard Earth Sciences and Technology Research II (GESTAR II) cooperative agreement is a 3-year partnership between NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; Morgan State University; Arizona State University; Colorado State University; Penn State University; ERT; Northrop Grumman; and SURA. The vision for GESTAR II is to advance Earth science and Goddard’s leadership by providing a competitive environment to hire and retain high-quality scientists who are on trach to be leaders at NASA, in academia, and industry.

The Consortium’s primary focus for GESTAR II is to enhance the capability of Goddard’s Earth sciences research program in support for NASA’s strategic science mission objectives. This is accomplished through recruiting, hiring, and retaining high-quality and diverse scientists and students.

SURA is the lead institution in recruiting and attracting visiting scientists and sabbatical researchers to enable and facilitate NASA Goddard collaborations with the greater scientific community. SURA has manages three individuals working in the GESTAR II central office tasked with supporting the GESTAR II scientists, as well as help connect student researchers with GESTAR II and NASA Goddard scientists. Carolyn Wilson, SURA Special Projects Manager, manages SURA’s involvement with GESTAR II, as well as serves on the GESTAR II Management Council.

Please visit the GESTAR II website for more information on the program, including current research opportunities and exciting research accomplishments. Current opportunities within GESTAR II can also be found on SURA’s Open Opportunities page.
