SABBATICAL SUPPORT PROGRAM AT JLAB

First established by the SURA Board of Trustees in 1997, this Program provides support for faculty from universities conducting research at Jefferson Lab during approved sabbatical leave from their home institutions. The JSA/JLab Sabbatical/Research Leave Support Program enhances research opportunities for faculty through access to Jefferson Lab facilities and interaction with Lab researchers, strengthens the teaching and research capabilities of universities through faculty involvement, and strengthens the research programs of the Lab by attracting “new blood” and integrating university faculty members in the Lab’s programs.

Annually, JSA solicits and reviews proposals to assess the potential contributions to the nuclear and related particle physics, accelerator physics, and other Jefferson Lab related research fields, considering the proposed utilization of the Lab’s facilities and the integration with Lab researchers to advance the proposed research. JSA will provide a monthly $1,500 stipend to help defray expenses for researchers during their sabbaticals at the Lab. Preference is given for nominations from SURA member universities.

This Program is supported by the JSA Initiatives Fund, an annual commitment from JSA to support programs, initiatives, and activities that further the scientific outreach, and promote the science, education and technology missions of Jefferson Lab and benefit the Lab user community.
