Renewable Energy Critical Materials Supply Chain Subject Matter Expert

POSITION SUMMARY:

SURA has an immediate opening for a Renewable Energy Critical Materials Supply Chain Expert to support the Department of Energy’s Office of International Affairs (IA). Multilateral, Climate, and Clean Energy Engagement (IA-42). The selected candidate will work directly with DOE staff in IA’s Office of Multilateral, Climate, and Clean Energy Engagement (IA-42). This support includes supply chain, statistical, and economic policy analysis to support plans for critical materials stockpiles, which will require a proposal of new authorities and appropriations. It will also require significant coordination with the National Security Council and the U.S. Interagency Foreign Policy Team to advance DOE objectives for the transition to clean energy, and it will leverage analysis to help furnish a program that protects domestic investments, while enabling international cooperation.

This position is a half-time (expectation of an average of 20-hours per week over a twelve-month period) role with the potential for full-time depending on future funding. Work may be performed remotely with travel to DOE Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and to industry partner corporate offices as required.

The ideal candidate will be an expert in critical materials supply chains and logistics. He (She) will be a strategic thinker, extraordinarily organized, results-driven, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and build and maintain relationships.

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in business administration
  • A doctorate degree in a related field of engineering or science.
  • 10 years’ experience as a Subject Matter Expert in supply chain analysis.
  • 5 years’ experience in renewable energy related critical materials life-cycle analysis.
  • Familiarity with the Department of Energy.
  • S. Citizenship
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong computer skills, with familiarity in using Microsoft Office suite applications (particularly Word and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, team player, self-starter, and results-oriented individual.
  • A U.S. Security Clearance is desirable but not required.
