POSITION SUMMARY:

SURA has an opening for an Energy Programs Research and Development Manager. The ideal candidate will be an expert in managing complex and diverse energy research and development support activities. They will be a strategic thinker, extraordinarily organized, results-driven, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This is a “key personnel” position. Therefore, the role requires the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and build and maintain relationships.

The position base of operations will be Morgantown, WV with travel to Pittsburgh, PA, and Albany, OR as required in the performance of the contract.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or business field with more than fifteen (15) years of related work experience in the management of research, development, demonstration, or commercial programs, projects, and facilities.
  • More than seven (7) years of consecutive experience in managing diverse and integrated work forces (e.g., professionals, engineers, scientists, technicians, craftsmen, etc.).
  • Expert knowledge of a broad spectrum of energy technology research including fossil fuels and renewables.
  • Knowledge of Department of Energy RDD&D Programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong computer skills, with familiarity in using Microsoft Office suite applications (particularly Word and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, team player, self-starter, and results-oriented individuals
  • S. Citizenship

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in a scientific, or engineering field with more than twenty (20) years of related work experience in the management of multimillion-dollar research, development, demonstration, or commercial programs, projects, and facilities.
  • More than ten (10) years of consecutive experience in managing diverse and integrated work forces (e.g., professionals, engineers, scientist, technicians, craftsmen, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Integrated Management Systems.
  • A U.S. (DOE or DoD) Security Clearance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Candidate will be responsible for management and oversight of various R&D Support functions set forth in the performance work statement including but not limited to:

  • Research Infrastructure Maintenance and Safety Support,
  • Process Improvement,
  • New Projects and Modifications,
  • Project Operations,
  • Engineering Design Support,
  • R&D Safety Support, Analysis and Reporting,
  • Training, and
  • Quality Control Inspections
