Purpose and Responsibilities of the C-MSI

The purpose of the Committee of Minority-Serving Institutions is to identify and promote relationships and partnerships among SURA member universities that grow the research and education programs for the community. The C-MSI will support the SURA membership with its efforts to seek relationships and partnerships that work to ensure that the STEM workforce of tomorrow is representative of the American population. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, promote, and/or implement programs targeted at increasing the capability of the national STEM workforce
  • Conduct periodic workshop(s) bringing together the SURA membership to promote a respectful and supportive environment that promotes equal opportunity for all in the national workforce and in federal, regional, and local programs
  • Act as a venue for SURA members to coalesce around discussions about government policies that affect MSIs
