Space Science & Technology Committee
The Space Science & Technology Committee is comprised of both Voting Members and non-Voting Members. The Committee also may include members from outside the SURA membership, such as representatives from federal agencies involved in space science and technology or researchers from other programs.
Purpose and Responsibilities of the Committee
The Space Science & Technology Committee will promote and oversee SURA’s space science and technology activities to ensure that the activities support the organization’s mission of advancing collaborative research and education. This includes advising SURA on its space science and technology programs, organizing and hosting special meetings and other activities to explore new opportunities, issuing solicitations and invitations that target formation of focus groups within and beyond the SURA membership with the intent to pursue potential opportunities. Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and evaluating the progress and outcomes of all SURA space science and technology projects and activities
- Identifying and promoting space science and technology opportunities to expand existing collaborations or initiate new collaborations that build strategic alliances among SURA members and outside partners
- Interfacing with SURA’s leadership, helping to ensure alignment with shared institutional objectives
- Evaluating new project requests and making recommendations to the SURA Board for action
