SURAgrid is a collective resource created by uniting the capabilities of specific network-based resources as contributed by the participating organizations. Contributed resources can include computation, data, storage, instruments, collaborative tools and other shared services.

The goal of SURAgrid is to develop a scalable infrastructure that leverages local institutional identity and authorization while managing access to shared resources across institutional boundaries. SURAgrid users agree to observe the SURAgrid acceptable use policy, and also the acceptable use policies of the individual resources and connections they are accessing through SURAgrid. Acceptable Use Policies for individual SURAgrid resources can be found in the detail by using the hyper-link of each resource listed in the Resource Monitor web page of SURAgrid portal.

SURAgrid resources are available primarily in support of the academic and research mission of SURA member institutions and their collaborators, by users affiliated with and authorized by those institutions and collaborators.

Unauthorized use of SURAgrid resources is prohibited. For-profit use of SURAgrid resources is prohibited. Use of SURAgrid resources, or the transmission of material to/from SURAgrid resources, in violation of any U.S. or state laws or regulations is prohibited.

Users of SURAgrid are expected to be responsible in their use of SURAgrid and avoid actions that cause interference to the operation of SURAgrid, the resources connected to SURAgrid, network connections between SURAgrid resources, and the work of others utilizing SURAgrid.

SURAgrid resources are available at the discretion of their resource owners. SURAgrid users are responsible for planning for the possibility of resources being down, or temporarily unavailable in order to accommodate previously approved higher priority and/or on-demand applications.

The existence and development of SURAgrid is being facilitated by SURA, the Southeastern Universities Research Association. However, all SURAgrid-accessible resources remain the property and responsibility of the contributor. Accordingly, SURA is not responsible for user access, security or support of SURAgrid resources but will assist in detection, identification and correction of SURAgrid misuse when requested.
